Damian Alvarez has vowed to leave nothing to chance when we line up against Plaza Amador tomorrow night.
The Panama champions have already been eliminated from the competition after earning just one point in their first three games, but a hostile home crowd combined with the fatigue from a long mid-week trip makes the match a potential banana skin.
The 37-year-old is set to start in Panama, but he knows the game won’t be easy.
“We’ll need to adapt quickly,” he said. “It’s their ground, their supporters.
“They’ll want to get a good result so we need to be at our best. In all these games you need to play well.”
On the Brink of Qualification
We’ve already played them once this season back at the end of August. We went 1-0 down after twenty minutes but rallied back with goals from Espericueta, Fernandez, and Julian Quinones to eventually win 3-1.
A victory on Wednesday would almost guarantee us a place in the quarter-finals. The final group game is at home to Herediano on 18th October.
