Damian Alvarez has become the latest player to speak out in support of Andre-Pierre Gignac.
The Frenchman has not scored in his last three outings and has come in for criticism from some sections of the media. His last goal came in our 2-1 win over Puebla in Jornada 9.
However, 37-year-old Alvarez thinks the negativity is ridiculous.
“There is no pressure on him,” said the Argentine.
“We have nothing to complain about, he’s a huge benefit to the team.” (Vavel)
Loss to Leon
The winger also spoke about our loss to Leon on Saturday night and admitted the side could have no complaints.
“It wasn’t a good day for us,” he added. “We have no excuses – we didn’t play properly. There is nothing else to say.”
The loss left us in second place in the table, four points behind leaders Tijuana. Next up is a home game against Necaxa in two weeks.
