Who is the best player in the Liga MX?
For most Tigres fans, the answer is simple – Andre-Pierre Gignac. We’re blessed with a team of many stars, but the Euro 2016 finalist is the jewel in the crown.
He might be lagging behind Tijuana’s Dayro Moreno in the goalscorers charts, but 24 league goals last season and another five already in this campaign point to a player who’s been in top form for almost 18 months.
However, former Tigres legend and current Cruz Azul manager Tomas Boy stopped short of calling him the best player in the country.
“He’s a great striker,” he said. “But the best striker in the league? That’s down to personal taste.”
Boy to Tigres?
Boy also refused to rule out becoming our manager one day, simply saying that the media “shouldn’t be asking that question”.
The 64-year-old made 413 appearances for us between 1975 and 1988, scoring 98 goals.
