Andre-Pierre Gignac and Juninho are both major doubts for Sunday’s clash with Pumas UNAM in Mexico City.
Both players missed Tuesday night’s 3-0 win over Herediano in the CONCACAF Champions League, and it’s looking unlikely that they’ll recover in time for Jornada 14 of the Liga MX.
Gignac is suffering from tight muscle in his leg, Juninho has a pain in his lower back.
We have one more training session in Monterrey before flying to Mexico City, and Tuca is keen to leave the decision about their fitness until as late as possible.
Ready for the Clasico?
In our opinion, it’s far more important that the two players are fully fit for the Clasico in Jornada 15. A win against Monterrey is vital to give us a much-needed confidence boost ahead of the Liguilla.
If Gignac and Juninho aren’t fit this weekend, they are likely to be replaced by Andy Delort and Jose Rivas. Delort scored his first goal for the club on Tuesday.
