Andre-Pierre Gignac will travel to France immediately after our game against Xolos tonight.
The player has been granted special dispensation to make the trip after the death of his grandmother, Catherine. She passed away on 31st October.
“We’re very sorry about his situation,” said club director, Miguel Angel Garza.
“We know that affects the player and affects the team. We stand in solidarity with him. He has the support of the club and all the players.”
A Long Break
The striker was left out of the recent France squad, but he could take advantage of the international break next week to stay in Europe with his family for a prolonged period.
Although it’s clearly a difficult time for Gignac, it’s a testament to his commitment to the club that he’s opted to stay here and play this weekend, rather than immediately returning home.
TigresNation would like to offer our sympathies to Andre-Pierre and his family.
