Andre-Pierre Gignac played the final twelve minutes for France in their 1-0 win over The Netherlands in a World Cup qualifier in Amsterdam today.
Manchester United’s Paul Pogba scored the only goal of the game, lashing in a long-range effort after half an hour.
As with France’s game against Bulgaria on Friday, Gignac replaced Atletico Madrid’s Kevin Gameiro – but he was unable to add to the scoreline.
Top of the Group
The result leaves France top of Group A with seven points from their three games so far. Their campaign will resume on Sunday 13th November when they travel to European minnows, Luxembourg. The Dutch are down in third with four points.
Only the top side from each group will automatically qualify for the World Cup in Russia. The eight best second-place sides will go into a playoff.
