Francisco Meza has not enjoyed a happy time at El Volcan since signing from Santa Fe in 2015.
The 25-year-old was sent on loan to Pumas for the entire 2015/16 season, and had only seen three minutes of action this season until he replaced Juninho with half and hour remaining against Pumas on Wednesday night.
However, with Juninho and Rivas ruled out of this weekend’s game against Puebla, Meza knows he has a chance to shine.
“I’m happy,” he said. “I want to play games and show why the club brought me here.
“Everyone is waiting to see me play. Physically, I feel very good. I’m confident and hope to prove myself at the weekend.”
Tuca has reportedly been working closely with Meza in training in recent weeks, suggesting a spell in the first team might not have been too far away even without the injuries to Juninho and Rivas.
Kickoff at the Estadio Cuauhtémoc is at 12 noon local time on Sunday.
