Tigres have launched a formal appeal against the two red cards issued to Guido Pizarro and Hugo Ayala during our 0-0 draw with Cruz Azul on Saturday.
Pizarro was sent off in the 86th minute for a second booking before Ayala was given his marching orders after full-time during an on-pitch scuffle.
As it stands, both players would miss next week’s game against Leon in Guanajuato.
A Chance for Rivas?
It would be a significant blow to be without the pair. Pizarro’s tenacity and work rate are a major reason that we’ve only conceded four goals all season, and Ayala is enjoying his best form in 18 months.
On the positive side, it would present a first team opportunity to fan favorite, Jose Rivas. The 31-year-old defender is yet to see a single minute of action in the league so far this season after starting 28 games in 2015/16.
The FMF’s decision will be announced later this week.
