Tigres could buy Peruvian club Sporting Cristal, according to reports in the media this afternoon.
The club are looking for a new party to become its biggest shareholder.
The current shareholders – AmBev – want to sell and have approached Tigres. Sources suggest the board is receptive to the idea and have expressed an interest in the purchase.
AmBev is part of the AB InBev group – the same corporation that bought Grupo Modelo in 2013 when they owned Santos.
Sporting Cristal is in Peru’s top flight. They’re currently third in the table with five wins from their first 13 games of the season.
The team is also playing in this season’s Copa Libertadores, but have already been eliminated in the group stage after losing their first four games. There are still two games remaining.
