Tigres Ladies picked up a strike on their record this weekend; they conceded a goal. They did win 7-1 over Santos Laguna, but the goal is what really sticks out, because while these beatdowns have become common, this was only the third goal that Tigres conceded all year. Of course, Tigres were already comfortably ahead 5-0 by the time Santos got on the board, so perhaps they took their feet off the gas a little bit, but it’s just incredible to watch a team this dominant, and at this point, fans want to see clean sheets and big wins.
And speaking of fans, there were a cool 5,615 people on site to watch the match, by far the highest in the league this week. In fact, with only a touch above 9,000 fans around the league this weekend, the Tigres supporters made up more than half of the fans around the entire country during Jornada 10. The scoresheet at the end of the day:
Carolina Jaramillo: 4′
Katty Martinez: 5′ 88′
Lizbeth Ovalle: 16′ 37′
Nancy Antonio: 41′
Liliana Mercado: 85′
Right now it certainly looks like it’ll come down to the second Clasico Regiomontano (Jornada 13) to determine who gets the top seed in Group 2. However, keep in mind only the top 2 teams from each group qualify for the playoffs, so even as they soar high, one slip up could see Tigres drop behind Rayados and Chivas.
The girls travel to León next weekend, who have brought great crowds all season long, including a 25,000 fan sellout during Jornada 7.
