Tigres will play in the 2017/18 CONCACAF Champions League after beating Leon in Saturday night’s semi-final.
The victory sent us to the Apertura final for the third time in three seasons and for the fourth time in the last six seasons.
The two finalists from the Apertura and the two finalists from the Clausura take Mexico’s four spots.
After the heartbreak of losing in last season’s CCL final, we have made it to the quarter-finals of this year’s edition where we will play Pumas UNAM in February/March.
The winners of the CCL qualify for the Club World Cup. America is Mexico’s representatives this season. La Volpe’s men start the competition with a game against South Korean side Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors on 11 December.
Mexican sides have dominated the CCL since it’s launch, winning it for the last 11 consecutive years and 32 times in total. Tigres has never lifted the title.
