Tuca Ferretti will take charge of his 1,000th game in Mexican football in the near future.
Amazingly, if we make it to the final of the Apertura, the landmark would actually fall on the second leg of the double-header.
Club president Alejandro Rodriguez admitted that the perfect way to celebrate the milestone would be with a league title.
“If the 1,000th game is in the final, there would be no better way to celebrate. It would be written in the statistics forever,” he said.
Tuca is currently enjoying his third spell in charge of the club, having been in charge between 2000 and 2003 and again in 2006. His most recent spell started in 2010.
He’s won two league titles, a Copa MX, and a Campeón de Campeones since returning, making him one of the most successful managers in the club’s history.
The only other man that comes close is Carlos Miloc. Miloc won both of Tigres first two championships and is the only manager in history not to lose in Clasico Regiomontano.
