Chaka Rodríguez will miss the rest of the regular season — including the Clasico Regio — after straining a muscle in his right thigh.
Rodríguez left the pitch in clear discomfort after just 12 minutes of Tigres 2-2 draw with Cruz Azul at the weekend. He was replaced by Alberto Acosta.
It’s thought the full-back will miss three weeks of action, meaning he will definitely be out for the games against Necaxa and Rayados, as well as both legs of the Liguilla quarter-final. If his recovery goes as expected, he might be fit again in time for the semis.
It’s been an injury-hit season for the 27-year-old. He only returned to the Tigres starting XI in early April after missing the entirety of March with an injury he picked up in the CONCACAF Champions League against Herediano.
Alberto Acosta is the most likely candidate to take Chaka’s place in the side.
