Andre-Pierre Gignac has become one of the Liguilla’s top 10 goalscorers of all-time.
Gignac scored a late penalty to help Tigres beat Santos 2-0 in the first leg of the quarter-finals on Thursday night. It was his 19th goal in the post-season playoffs since he joined the club in 2015.
The goal puts him level with Bofo in the leaderboard.
Despite his impressive form, the Frenchman might find the number one spot out of reach. José Cardozo scored an almost unassailable 43 during his 10-year spell at Toluca.
Gignac should still be confident of moving up the charts. Just four more goals will see him move into sixth place.
Here’s the top 10 in full:
1) José Cardozo: 43
2) Jared Borguetti: 41
3) Alberto García-Aspe: 28
4) Carlos Hermosillo: 25
5) Zague: 25
6) Evanildo Castro: 23
7) Benjamín Galindo: 20
8) Luis García: 20
9) Oribe Peralta: 20
10) Adolfo Bautista and André-Pierre Gignac: 19
Gignac will get the chance to add to his tally on Sunday evening as the two sides reconvene for the second leg of the tie in Torreon. Kick-off is at 6pm local time.
