Andre-Pierre Gignac will still be a Tigres player next season after the club’s new president, Miguel Angel Garza, said he wanted to keep the majority of the current squad.
Gignac’s future has been the subject of rampant speculation in recent weeks, with moves to the MLS, China, and even Brazil being mentioned in the press.
However, Angel has moved to quell the rumors. He wants to keep the record-breaking striker at the club.
“We have spoken very clearly, we are going to keep the team’s base with us. We cannot control it if someone has an interest in one our players”.
“Our intention is to play with 90 or 95 percent of the same players in the next tournament, and we hope to complement the team with something better or equal to what we have”. (Marca)
It’s thought Enner Valencia could be one of the few players to leave the club, even though reports in Monterrey said as many as seven of the squad could depart.
