Former Rayados star in bitter Twitter spat with Tigres fan

Former Monterrey goalkeeper Jonathan Orozco has once again become involved in an argument with Tigres fans.

Orozco isn’t well-liked among the Tigres fanbase thanks to his 11-year association with the club’s cross-city rivals.

Now playing for Santos Laguna, the 31-year-old took to Twitter on Sunday evening to share a video of an (admittedly impressive) save during his side’s 3-0 home win against Queretaro.

But one Tigres fan took his chance to mock the shot-stopper, using Monterrey’s reputation for adding a star to its shirt for every insignificant trophy to ask whether the keeper thought his current antics were deserving of a badge. He finished by using a play on words to equate Orozco’s new home in Torreon with dirt.

It’s fair to say Orozco didn’t take too kindly to being baited. He responded almost instantly, telling the fan in question to “shut his mouth”, adding that he had “won everything” against Tigres with his former club.

Tigres beat Santos 2-1 earlier in the season, with Sosa and Gignac scoring either side of Djaniny’s second-half equaliser.
