We like the CONCACAF Champions League. It’s a worthwhile competition that lets us see players and teams that we otherwise would never hear about.
It also gives those minnows the chance to compete against the continent’s finest, and in the process, improve their own level.
But the disparity is still frightening.
According to reports this evening, our “B” team that’ll take to the field tonight is around 70 times more valuable than Plaza Amador’s regular matchday squad.
The team that Tuca has taken to Panama is worth around $19 million. The Plaza Amador squad is worth about $275,000.
The jewel in the Tigres crown is Andy Delort at $5.5 million, but even the least valuable player in our squad – Luis Daniel Martinez – is still valued at almost as much as the entire Panamanian team.
