Tigres discovers CONCACAF Champions League quarter-final opponents

The final games of the 2016/17 CONCACAF Champions League group stages were completed last night.

Pumas UNAM and FC Dallas both secured easy wins, as the Mexicans thrashed Trinidad and Tobago’s W Connection 8-1 and the MLS side swept aside Suchitepéquez 5-2.

The completion of the group stages means the draw for the knockout rounds is now complete. We are the fifth seed, with last month’s shock 1-0 loss to Plaza Amador costing us dear. As result, we face a tough quarter-final against Liga MX rivals Pumas.

Liga MX vs MLS semi-final

Elsewhere, Saprissa play Pachuca, Arabe Unido face Dallas, and there’s an all-MLS tie as Vancouver and the New York Red Bulls go head-to-head.

Should we progress, we would play either the Whitecaps or NYRB in the semis.

The first leg will take place in Monterrey between 21st and 23rd February, with the return leg in Mexico City a week later.
