Tigres is a surprise late entrant in the race to sign former Newcastle United striker, Luuk de Jong.
It was widely assumed that the 27-year-old striker would put pen to paper on a deal with Club America over the coming days, but reports on ESPN suggest that Tuca is keen to hijack the move.
De Jong, who spent a season in the North-East of England with the Magpies, is currently playing for Dutch side, PSV.
The player’s father and agent are both currently in Mexico to meet with America officials. The report claims they will travel to Monterrey to talk to the Tigres hierarchy after they’ve completed their discussions with Las Aguilas.
Both sides will face stiff competition for his signature. It’s thought Premier League side Everton is also keen and the player’s preference is to remain in Europe.
The issue is further complicated by PSV’s Sporting Director, Marcel Brands, decision to move to the Toffees this summer. Brands is expected to take several PSV players with him, including Chucky Lozano.
De Jong has played 25 times for the Dutch national side, scoring seven goals.
